Tuis is the Afrikaans word for home — and that’s the whole idea. Step through the stone archway on Shippard Street and you’re met by a garden full of trees, long tables under cream umbrellas, and the smell of coffee brewing somewhere inside.
The coffee shop serves breakfast, homemade pot pies, proper cakes — the kind your Ouma would approve of. The guest house, as part of the coffee shop, keeps its vintage character close: clawfoot baths, worn pine floors, a deep red powder room that people take pictures of before they even sit down.
